How an assignment is planned

Every assignment starts with a conversation, not a roster.

The director or the team leader speaks with the principal or their office about who is being protected, where they need to be and when, what has prompted the request, and how visible the protection should be. The plan that follows sets the team size, the vehicles, the advance work and the communications, and the principal's office signs it off before anyone is deployed.

Advance work is done in person. Each venue is visited: entries and exits, parking and drop-off, the room the principal will be in, where the team stands, the nearest hospital and the route to it, and a conversation with the venue's own security so nobody is surprised on the day. Routes between venues are driven at the time of day they will be used, with a second option for each leg.

On the day, the team works to the plan and communicates on its own channel. Movements are timed, positions are held, and the principal is briefed only as much as they want to be. Afterwards, the assignment is debriefed and written up for the principal's office, without names or details appearing anywhere public.

Licensing and insurance

In Queensland the bodyguard function is a licensed activity under the Security Providers Act 1993. Operators on a close-protection assignment hold a Class 1 licence with that function, in their own name, and it can be checked on the same public register as any other security licence.

    Day, evening and overnight cover, weekends and public holidays, and the length of each day.

  • Advance work

    The number of venues and routes to be checked before the assignment starts, and whether venue liaison is required.

  • Vehicles and drivers

    Whether the principal's own vehicles are used or we provide them, and whether a dedicated driver is part of the team.

  • Travel

    Assignments outside Brisbane, the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast include travel time, accommodation and per diems for the operators.

Frequently asked questions

Are your bodyguards licensed in Queensland?

Yes. Every operator holds a current Class 1 licence issued by the Queensland Office of Fair Trading with the bodyguard function, and the company holds a firm licence. Licence details are in the proposal and can be checked on the OFT public register before the assignment starts.

Do you provide armed protection?

No. Close protection in Queensland is unarmed, and our operators work within that law. Protection comes from planning, positioning, movement control and the operators' training and experience.

Can you cover a one-off event?

Yes. A single function, a court date, a public announcement or a visiting executive's day in the city are common assignments. The advance work is scaled to the event, and the team is sized to the venue and the movements.

Do you cover the Gold Coast as well as Brisbane?

Yes. Brisbane, the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast are covered from one operation, and operators travel with the principal between them and elsewhere in Queensland when the assignment requires it.

How discreet is the service?

Operators work in plain clothes unless a visible presence is the intent. Every operator signs a confidentiality undertaking, nothing about an assignment is published or posted, and client identities are never used as references.
