Record

Every shift logged digitally and reported to you.

We cover Surfers Paradise, Broadbeach, Southport, Burleigh Heads, Robina and Coolangatta with officers who live and work on the coast, run from the same Brisbane-based operation that serves Brisbane.

The work is static guarding for retail and commercial sites: officers posted to entrances, gatehouses, loading docks and trading floors, the same people returning to the same site, every shift logged digitally and reported to you.

What's included

What our security guards on the Gold Coast do

  1. 01

    Static guarding

A licensed officer on a fixed post for the shift: entry doors, a foyer, a loading dock, a trading floor. Uniformed and visible by default; plain-clothed where a site asks for it.

  2. 02

Guard hire by the shift or by contract

One shift, a fortnight of after-hours cover, a refurbishment, a seasonal peak or a standing contract. The licensing and the reporting are the same in each case.

  3. 03

    Concierge and front of house

Officers at the desk of a commercial tower or a residential building: visitor sign-in, contractor control, deliveries, after-hours access. Presentation is part of the brief.

  4. 04

    Loss prevention

Floor and exit coverage for retail. Officers observe, approach and record under the store's own policy, and every incident is written up for the manager the same day.

  5. 05

    Car park and precinct coverage

Open-air and basement car parks are where most retail incidents on the coast start. Officers walk them on a set pattern and log each pass.

  6. 06

    Incident response and reporting

Disturbances, trespass, medical events and alarms attended on site, escalated by protocol and documented with time, action and outcome.

  7. 07

    Lock-up and open-up

Perimeter, alarms, lighting and roller doors checked and recorded at the start and end of trade. Overnight, mobile patrols take over where a fixed post is not justified.

  8. 08

    Local supervision

A supervisor based on the coast visits posts unannounced, reads the logs and is your point of contact. Site orders are briefed before the first shift.

Where we work on the Gold Coast

The Gold Coast is a long, thin city, and a roster that ignores that puts officers in traffic instead of on post. We roster by precinct so cover is local and a client's second site can be served by the same team. Current areas:

  1. Surfers Paradise

High-footfall retail, hotel forecourts and commercial premises with a late-night economy around them. Entry control and incident recording are the brief.

  2. Broadbeach

Retail centres, dining precincts and residential towers. Concierge and car-park coverage are the usual posts.

  3. Southport

The commercial centre of the coast: office buildings, health precincts and retail. After-hours access control and lock-up.

  4. Burleigh Heads

Retail strips, industrial estates towards Burleigh West and large-format retail off the highway.

  5. Robina

Shopping centre, commercial park and medical precinct. Trading-hours presence, loss prevention and car-park patrols.

  6. Coolangatta

The southern end, including the airport precinct and the border retail strip. Gatehouse and after-hours guarding.

Centres with sites on the coast and in Brisbane get one roster, one supervisor chain and one report. Multi-site retail is described on the shopping centre security page; the Brisbane roster is on security guards Brisbane.

Guarding on the coast: what is different

The Gold Coast trades later and busier than Brisbane, and its retail sits next to a night-time economy.

Posts at Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach see more foot traffic after dark, more visitors who do not know the centre, and more incidents that start in a car park and move inside. Site orders on the coast put more weight on entry control at the end of trade and on car-park patterns than the same centre in a Brisbane suburb would.

School holidays and event weekends change the picture again. Rosters for coast sites are built with those weeks marked, cover is stepped up where the incident history says it should be, and the change is written into the report so the centre manager can see what was done and why. Officers rostered on the coast live there; nobody is driving down from Brisbane to hold a post in Robina.

What you can verify

Licensing and insurance

The licence is a Queensland licence: the same Class 1 requirement applies on the Gold Coast as in Brisbane, and the same public register lets you check the officer at your door.

Per officer, before a first shift

  • Class 1 licence sighted and recorded
  • Current first aid certificate
  • Police history check as required by the licence
  • Site induction signed off by the supervisor
  • Licence expiry tracked centrally: nobody is rostered on an expired ticket
  • Names and licence numbers of the officers proposed are in every quote

Elite Squad Security operates as a licensed security firm, and every officer we deploy holds a current Class 1 licence issued by the Queensland Office of Fair Trading. Any licence can be checked on the public register before an officer starts.

What sets the price

How much do security guards cost on the Gold Coast

Guarding is priced per officer per hour against your roster, and the rate is set by the factors below. We quote in writing, and the number in the proposal is the number on the invoice. Rates on the coast follow the same award as Brisbane; what changes is travel and, in peak season, availability.

Get a written quote

Send the site, the hours and the start date through the quote form. The proposal returns with the rate, the roster and the licence details of the officers proposed.

  • Hours and days

Weekday day shifts set the base. Nights, weekends and public holidays carry the award penalties the officer is entitled to.

  • Shift length

A four-hour call-out costs more per hour than a full shift: travel and briefing are the same either way.

  • Role and experience

Concierge, loss prevention and gatehouse are all Class 1 work, but presentation, experience and additional training change the rate.

  • Single site or portfolio

Multi-site contracts share supervision and reporting, which lowers the per-hour figure.

  • Notice and season

A roster agreed in advance is priced differently from cover needed tonight, and school holidays and event weekends tighten availability.

  • Equipment and reporting

Radios, body-worn cameras where used, and the digital logging platform: included on standing contracts, itemised on short ones.

Three things you can verify

Why Elite Squad

  1. 01

    Licences you can check

Every officer holds a Queensland Class 1 licence. We give you the names; you look each one up on the OFT register before they start.

  2. 02

A written record of every shift

Every post and patrol is logged in Boomerang, our own reporting app: timestamped check-ins, incident entries and photographs. You receive the report, not a verbal summary.

  3. 03

The same officers on the same site

Rosters are built so a site sees the same faces. Officers who know the tenants, the layout and the regulars resolve more and escalate less.

Gold Coast posts are supervised from the coast; the report reaches you from one operation whether the site is in Robina or Newstead.

Frequently asked questions

Are your Gold Coast security guards licensed in Queensland?

Yes. Every officer holds a current Class 1 licence from the Queensland Office of Fair Trading and the company holds a firm licence. The licence is state-wide, and you can check any officer on the OFT public register before they start. Names and numbers are in the proposal.

How many guards does a Gold Coast retail centre need?

It depends on entry points, trading hours, the car park and the incident history. A single-entry store may need one officer; a multi-level centre with a basement car park may need several across the day. We walk the site before quoting and put the reasoning in writing.

Can you start this week?

Often, yes, subject to the roster, the site induction and whether the post needs particular experience. Put the start date on the quote form and we will confirm what is possible before you commit to anything.

Do you also cover Brisbane?

Yes, and the Sunshine Coast. The operation is Brisbane-based and covers all three regions with one supervisor chain and one reporting line. The other rosters are on the security guards Brisbane and security guards Sunshine Coast pages.

What is the minimum shift?

Minimum engagements follow the security industry award. Short shifts carry a higher hourly rate because travel and briefing do not shrink with the shift. The minimum for your post is stated in the written quote.

Do your guards carry body-worn cameras?

Body-worn cameras are available and used where the client requests them and the site's signage and privacy obligations allow. Footage is handled under a written procedure. With or without cameras, every incident is logged digitally with time, action and outcome.
